Important patient information regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been designated a high consequence infectious disease. It has been widely identified that the impact of infection is likely to accelerate with possibly profound consequences for the country.
Despite having a first world health care system, reports from Italy suggest that there is potential for a spike in the number of cases, with significant impact on health care services with risk of mortality high (particularly for at risk patients).
For this reason the Partners at Solihull Healthcare Partnership have made the decision to implement emergency measures to minimise the risk of exposure to patients, our staff and their families.
On Monday 16th March 2020, Solihull Healthcare Partnership will be moving fully to an on-the-day, telephone first booking system for all appointments.
Patients will be called by a clinician and your ailment, problem or concern will either be managed on the phone or a same day face to face appointment will be arranged, this may not be with your usual GP or at your usual SHP site.
If you have symptoms of Coronavirus, go home, self-isolate and visit 111.nhs.uk/covid-19 (or call 111)
It will not be possible to book a face to face appointment for a later date and online appointments will be for telephone consultations only.
For correspondence or prescription requests* you wish to leave with the surgery – there will be a secure box on the outside of the building at each site for you to safely post these in.
*Please state which pharmacy you would like your prescription sending to. We will no longer accommodate paper prescriptions whereby we are able to send them electronically. This will be sent to your pharmacy within 72 hours.
We hope the community understand the reasoning behind these measures and we would like to offer our reassurance that our plans are continually being reviewed and improved upon.
We are unable to say at this current moment in time how long normal service will be suspended for, but we will continue to keep our patients updated on our website.
